Traveller Birthday

Happy Thursday...just one more day till the weekend...woohoo!
Today I have another of the projects I had on offer at my Birthday Blitz card buffet last week.  It was inspired by a card I saw on pinterest designed by Bonnie Klass.

Masculine birthday card featuring the Open Sea and Traveller stamp sets with sentiment from Petite Pairs.
I simplified Bonnie's design a little bit, eliminating some of the paper piercing, and adding embossing to the background layer.  I used the Pretty Print TIEF (retired) to add texture to the Naturals Ivory card stock.  The globe image, from the Open Sea stamp set, is stamped in Early Espresso ink and die-cut using the Circles Framelits.  I added colour with a sponge dauber and Pool Party ink and then pierced a border using the Essentials Paper Piercing template and a piercing tool.  I layered it on a circle, also cut with the Circles Framelits from Early Espresso card stock.  The suitcase, from the Traveller stamp set, is stamped in Early Espresso and coloured with a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink.  It is punched using the 1-3/4" circle punch and layered on a 2" circle in Early Espresso.  The compass, which is from the Open Sea set, is heat embossed in gold, punched with the 1-1/4" circle punch and then layered of a 1-3/8" Early Espresso circle.

The sentiment, from the Petite Pairs stamp set, is heat embossed in gold and die-cut using the Banners Framelits.

Inside view with sentiment from the World of Dreams stamp set.
On the inside I stamped the globe image again using Early Espresso ink, stamping off twice to ensure a very faded image.  The sentiment, from the World of Dreams set, is stamped full-strength in Early Espresso ink.
Have a thrilling Thursday!!

Faux Rusted Hammered Metal

Happy Hump Day!  It's all down hill to the weekend from here!  Yippee!

Today I have one of the project for my techniques class next month.  It is a twist on the Faux Rusted Metal technique...

Masculine birthday card featuring the Faux Rusted Metal technique...with a twist!
Did you notice the extra bit of texture on the star?  I added that by running the top layer of card stock through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots TIEF (which just happens to be on sale this week!!) before applying the ink and embossing powders.  It makes for a hammered-metal effect.  Kinda cool, no?  The rest of this one is pretty straightforward...I used the Dictionary background stamp with Soft Suede ink to stamp the Crumb Cake card base and then sponged it with Crumb Cake ink to grunge it up.  I also added some gold metallic spatters with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

The sentiment is from the And Many More stamp set and is also stamped in Soft Suede ink.  I added some Burlap ribbon, as well as some Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon and a bit of black striped 1-1/4" grosgrain ribbon from my scraps bin.  Of course a bit of bling was required, so I added some gold sequin trim.

On the insde I stamped the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Soft Suede and added a few more gold metallic splatters and sequins.
Thanks for checking in...have a great day!!

You Rock!

Yes, you do.  You really do!
There...feeling ready to face the day?  ;)

Today I have another of the projects from this month's Blendabilities Club kit that features the You Rock stamp from the Annual Catalogue:

Congratulations card featuring the You Rock stamp set.
This card makes me smile.  I can't wait to send to it someone who needs a little encouragement.  I stamped the rocking chair image using Memento Tuxedo black ink on Whisper White card stock and then die cut the oval using the Ovals Collection Framelits.  I coloured the image using the Crumb Cake Blendabilities and then matted the image on a slightly larger oval cut from Basic Black card stock.

I die cut several stars from gold glimmer paper to add some bling...because every card needs a little sparkle, no?  The sentiment is heat embossed using gold embossing powder and die cut with the Stars Framelits.  I added some gold sequin trim and a few indiviual gold sequins as well.  The card base is made from some leftover textured Crumb Cake card stock I've been hoarding carefully saving for just the right occasion.

Inside view with sentiment from the Big News stamp set.
On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment from the Big News stamp set and coloured the letters in AWSOMENESS using the medium shade of Crumb Cake Blendabilities.  Once again I added a little bling with a gold star...who doesn't like getting gold stars??

Party Animal

Happy Monday!  I thought we could all use a little something to smile about today, so I've got a fun little project that was part of this month's kit for my Blendabilities Club members.  They received the Crumb Cake set this month, so I pulled out the new From the Herd set...

Birthday card featuring the From the Herd stamp set.
Isn't that llama the best??  Here is a better look at him:

Teehee...I love it!  I coloured him using the medium shade for the inside of his ears and the lightest shade for the rest of his fur.  To colour his snout I used the Blush marker from the Skin Tone set (which is on sale till Midnight tonight, by the way!!)

The rest of the card is pretty straightforward.  I used the Decorative Dots TIEF to emboss the Whisper White background layer.  The DSP is from the Best Year Ever Sale-a-bration pack, and is trimmed with some Coastal Cabana ruffled ribbon (retired), which just happens to be the exact same texture as the ribbon in the Sale-a-bration Best Year Ever Accessory pack, which I used for the bow.  I stamped the sentiment, which are both in the From the Herd set, in Crushed Curry and Coastal Cabana inks

On the inside I stamped the sentiment from Really Good Greetings using Coastal Cabana ink and then the balloons from the From the Herd set using Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral inks.

Inside view with sentiment from Really Good Greetings.
I hope this little project makes your Monday a little brighter...have a great week!

One down, two to go!

Last night I held the first of three consecutive birthday card buffets.  My guests had a great time...one of them even brought her fiance so that he could practice stamping in preparation for making their wedding invitations!  He did a fantastic job, making 5 different designs in three hours...talk about a keeper!  Today I have another of the projects that was on offer...

Birthday card featuring the Big News stamp set.
This project was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest by Amy O'Neill.  The background Whisper White layer is embossed using the Arrows TIEF and then mounted on a Real Red card base.    The DSP banner is from the Brights DSP stack...I love that paper, but always forget to use it!  The focal image, from the Big News stamp set, was inked using Old Olive, Real Red and Daffodil Delight markers.  The polaroid frame was die-cut using the Squares framelits and popped up with dimensionals.

The silver glimmer stars were punched using some retired punches, but the same look could easily be achieved using the Stars framelits.  The little WooHoo Banner was stamped in Old Olive ink and then fussy cut.

On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink and the candle in Old Olive, adding another little silver glimmer star as the flame on the candle.  I love that this is a quick and easy generic birthday card, suitable for just about anyone :)

Have a fantastic weekend...and if you have time, why not play along with our colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps...there's still time!

Made this just for you!

Happy Thursday....one more day till the weekend!  Yippee!!  Tonight marks the first of three consecutive days of birthday card buffets for me and I thought I'd show you a preview of one of the projects that will be on offer for my guests...

Birthday card featuring the Balloon Bash stamp set and Best Year Ever DSP.
This is a pretty quick and easy card...the toughest part is the fussy cutting of the banner, but more on that later!  I began with a Sahara Sand card base and added a background layer of Best Year Ever Sale-a-bration DSP...yep, you can get it for free!  I added some Coastal Cabana thick baker's twine as a subtle embellishment.  The label is die-cut using the Top Note Bigz die...can you believe that is the very first die I ever bought five years ago??  It seems like such a long time ago now!  I stamped the sentiment from the Ballon Bash set in Soft Suede ink...I love the cheekiness of the #you'rewelcome :)

The banner is stamped in Crushed Curry ink and fussy cut using paper snips.  Not difficult, but, as I said above, the hardest step in this very simple design.  I popped the label up with dimensionals to make it stand out even more.  The only other embellishments on the front of this card are the In-colour sequins that I added for a little bling.

On the inside I stamped another image and sentiment from the Ballon Bash set using Soft Suede ink.  Once again, I stamped a second image in Crushed Curry ink and fussy cut out the solid candles, layering them over the Soft Suede ones.

Before I go I want to share some exciting news with you!  My design for this week's Sunday Stamps challenge was chosen as a top pick over at PPA this week!  A big thank you to the Design Team for the shout out!

Wood You Be Mine?

Today I have another project I designed using the Wood You Be Mine stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue.  I just love that set and am having fun coming up with different designs with it.

Valentine's card featuring the Wood You Be Mine stamp set
For this project I skipped the lumberjack and went with just the log image for my focal point.  I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then coloured it using the Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities and the Colour Lifter.  I created the tag using the Angled Tag Topper punch and added some Real Red stitched grosgrain ribbon (retired) and a bit of Linen Thread.  The background layer is Early Espresso Core'dinations card stock that I embossed using the Woodgrain TIEF.  The DSP layer is from the Stacked With Love DSP Stack.

The little gold hearts are punched from Gold Foil card stock using the Confetti Hearts punch.  The sentiment is stamped in Real Red ink.

On the inside I stamped the textured tree line image from the Wood You Be Mine set in Early Espresso ink.  The sentiment is stamped in Real Red.  I added a single gold foil heart, punched with the Itty Bitty Accents heart.

I {heart} U

Happy Sunday!  It's time for a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps.  This one is just perfect for Valentine's Day...check it out:

I planned my design using this week's sketch challenge over at  PPA:

PPA236

And here is my take on it:

Valentine's card featuring the Perpetual Birthday Calendar and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets.
I had some grungy fun with this one!  I stated with a piece of Whisper White card stock which I stamped several times with the heart confetti image from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set using Real Red ink.  Then I added some spatters using the Gorgeous Grunge set and gold metallic ink.  I embossed the whole thing using the Adorning Accents TIEF (retired).  I added a 1/2" strip of Real Red card stock that I punched with the Hearts Border Punch, as well as some gold baker's twine.  The letters are made using Simply Pressed Clay and the new Alphanumeric mold...so happy to see a new mold for this product line!  I coloured the heart using my Real Red Stampin' Write marker and added some hints of gold to the letters using a sponge dauber and gold metallic ink.  I adhered then to a little banner cut from a piece of Burlap trim.

I added some gold sequin trim and a gold baker's twine bow to the bottom of the banner and scattered a few random sequins around.

Inside view with sentiments from Something to Say.
On the inside I repeated the stamped images from the front as a border along the outer edge.  The sentiment is from the Something to Say set and is stamped in Real Red ink.  I added a little heart, also from the Something to Say set, stamped in gold metallic ink.

Why not give this challenge a try...we, at Sunday Stamps,  would love to see your work!

Lotus Thank You

Today I have another project featuring the gorgeous Lotus Blossom Sale-a-bration set.

Thank you card featuring the Lotus Blossom stamp set.
I love how quick and easy it is to create this beautiful water-coloured look with just stamps and ink!  To create this one I simply stamped the three layers of the blossom using, in this order, Blackberry Bliss ink, then Rich Razzleberry ink full strength and then Rich Razzleberry ink again, but stamped off lightly.  For the stem I used Old Olive ink and then Mossy Meadow ink.  The sentiment is stamped in Black Berry Bliss ink.

I layered the stamped panel on a piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock and then added some Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin Ribbon (which is on sale this week!)  as well as some pearls that I coloured with the Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities.  The Whisper White background panel is embossed using the new Spring Flowers TIEF and is then layered on a Blackberry Bliss card base.

On the inside I stamped the flower again, as I did on the front.  So pretty!
To get your hands on this stamp set, visit my webstore to place your $60 order and choose the Lotus Blossom set as your FREE Sale-a-bration reward.  You'll be glad you did...this set is beautiful!

Timber!

I have LOTS to share with you today!  First, a project:  Last week I showed you a project I designed using the new Wood You Be Mine stamp set from the Occasion Catalogue.  Today I have another one for you :)

Valentine's card featuring the Wood You Be Mine stamp set
Fun, huh?  This one might just have to go to my DH this year.  To create the background layer I stamped the log image repeatedly all over a piece of Smoky Slate card stock using Versamark ink.  I then heat embossed in silver...I love the look of silver on Smoky Slate!  I layered the stamped background on a piece of Real Red card stock, which was then adhered to a Basic Gray card base.

The sentiment is stamped in Real Red ink and then layered on a piece of Basic Gray card stock.  The axe is stamped in Memento Tuxdeo black ink, coloured with Cherry Cobbler and Smoky Slate Blendabilities, and then fussy cut and adhered to the sentiment panel.  I finished it off with a bit of silver baker's twine before adhering it to the card.

On the inside I stamped the log again using Smokey Slate ink, stamped off once.  The sentiment is stamped in Real Red ink.

I love the way this turned out...can't wait to give it to my honey for Valentine's Day!
